Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier

Often called "Scrippshenge" the Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier located at the northern end of La Jolla Shores beach is a san Diego landmark. The top of the pier, which is closed to the public, is home to UC San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography. 

Typically twice per year, in May and August, the sunset aligns perfectly with the pier creating this iconic and often photographed moment.
